Stephen Houmes, MD

Dr. Stephen Houmes is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician. Dr. Houmes graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington in 2014. He then completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in 2017. Dr. Houmes is Faculty of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (FAAEM) and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP). Dr. Houmes is also certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Dr. Houmes has a passion for building an emergency program that offers expertise and excellent emergency services in critical access and rural environments. “The first few hours of care can be the most important with regard to patient outcomes,” says Dr. Houmes. “I have a special interest in emergency care quality improvement, advanced airway management, bedside ultrasound, and sports medicine injury treatment and prevention.” 

When at home Dr. Houmes enjoys mountain biking, skiing, technical trail and mountain running, and spending time with his family.
