The Heart of Care in Teton Valley: Inside Our Emergency Department
As the weather warms and outdoor activities pick up in Teton Valley, so does activity in our Emergency Department. Whether you’re skiing late into spring, kicking off mountain biking season, cranking the motor for the first time this year, or working the land, accidents can happen fast—and that’s why Teton Valley Health Care’s Emergency Room is open 24/7/365 days a year including 24/7 Physician Coverage with lab and radiology including X-ray and Computerized Tomography (CT) available at ALL hours of the day.
Not only are we prepared for traumatic injuries, but our staff is ready to care for medical emergencies in patients of all ages from newborns to centenarians, and to care for you however minor or major the illness is.
Yes, We’re Always Open!
A common misconception is that rural emergency departments have limited hours. Not here. Ours is always staffed, always ready, and always committed to providing expert care when you need it most.
The rugged, high-altitude terrain of our Valley requires us to be prepared for a wide range of traumas. From biking injuries and skiing accidents to agricultural, work and environmental emergencies, our team is trained and equipped to handle it all.
Led by Experts You Can Trust
Our Emergency Department is led by Dr. Steve Houmes and Dr. Gretchen Stumhofer, board-certified physicians in Emergency Medicine. Every shift is staffed by board-certified physicians and supported by skilled emergency staff.

In Case of Emergency…
Please enter through our Emergency Entrance at 120 E. Howard Avenue on the north side. We are available to help if you require assistance. We will inquire about your condition and severity, medical history, and personal information and ask that you sign a consent for treatment.
If you are experiencing a trauma of any kind, such as bleeding or chest pain, please proceed straight to the nurses station.
Upon diagnosis, our board-certified physicians may determine to transfer you by ground ambulance or Air Methods Medical Flight to a partnering hospital such as Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center or University of Utah Hospital.
