Surgical Services At Teton Valley Health Care

General Surgery

Gregory Behm, MDGregory Behm, MD

With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Behm has dedicated his career to practicing in rural America—often as a solo practitioner in some of the most remote locations in the West. His mission: to bring “big city” techniques to small town communities.

Dr. Behm is board-certified in both General Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He subspecialized in sports medicine due to his love of activity, using the same techniques that repair a quarterback’s rotator cuff to help farmers, ranchers, hikers, skiers, and cyclists get back to what they love. He also has extensive expertise in total hip and total knee replacements—procedures that make a huge impact for patients who want excellent care close to home.

A graduate of Cornell University, Dr. Behm went on to earn his medical degree as the top of his class at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He then completed residency at the world-renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN—home to the authors of Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics, the leading textbook in the field. For over a decade, he has also served as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Behm is an avid skier  and a proud Alumni Member of the National Ski Patrol, where he served for more than 10 years as medical advisor at Lost Trail Ski Area. His wife, Beth, says he only works so he can ski. Together, they have three grown children, three grandchildren, and are excited for this new chapter in Teton Valley.

Daniel P.W. Smith, DODaniel P.W. Smith, DO

Before deciding upon a treatment plan, Dr. Smith takes a comprehensive approach by doing everything possible to determine the source(s) of a patient’s pain. He specializes in using the most advanced, minimally invasive techniques for pain management, with a particular interest in spinal cord stimulation and regenerative medicine. This can include both stem cell and platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections, which promote the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints.

Dr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management, with a minor in Biology, from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from A.T. Still University, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and was chief resident for an anesthesiology residency at University of Missouri-Kansas City. He then completed a fellowship in interventional pain medicine at the University of California-Davis, one of the national centers of excellence for his field.

From a young age, Dr. Smith always knew that he wanted to be a doctor. He even shadowed an anesthesiologist in middle school, which gave him valuable insight into a career in medicine and pain management. Helping his patients find relief from their pain brings Dr. Smith a tremendous sense of joy and satisfaction.

When Dr. Smith is not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He also loves alpine skiing, mountain biking, golf, and a good science fiction novel.
