Luke Martin, MD, FACS
Luke Martin, MD is board certified in general, and colon and rectal surgery. He comes to Teton Valley Health after several years in busy academic practice at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital and the University of Utah Hospital.
His clinical practice includes a broad scope of general and colon and rectal surgical problems, such as hernia repair, gallbladder removal, vascular access, gastrointestinal cancers, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease, upper and lower endoscopy, and removal of skin and soft tissue lesions, as well as pilonidal cyst surgery including revisions and cleft lifts known as a Bascom procedure. He has a particular interest in the use of minimally invasive techniques whenever possible.
He believes in providing individualize, holistic care that begins with what matters most to each person. He enjoys discussing the range of treatment options available and includes each patient in the decision-making process.
Dr. Martin grew up in Austin, Texas. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a degree in economics. Following medical school at the McGovern School of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center, he completed General Surgery residency at the University of Utah which included two years of dedicated research time. He then completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time in the mountains with his wife, young children, and dogs. They enjoy trail running, downhill and skate-skiing, biking, canyoneering, camping, and fishing.
