Marcia Saunders
Director
Marcia Saunders was born on a snowy day in Birmingham, Alabama, but did not see snow again until she turned 18. Little did she know that she would end up living in this stunning community and its snowy winters.
She graduated from high school in Montgomery, Alabama. In her high school years, she began developing strong leadership skills. Marcia was elected Lieutenant Governor of Alabama’s Girls State and served as Secretary of the Senate for Alabama’s Youth Legislature.
Marcia pursued higher education at Auburn University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. During her time at university, she actively participated in Army ROTC and served as a sponsor for the Pershing Rifles.
Her professional career spans an impressive 35 years in the aviation industry. Marcia began as a flight attendant for American Airlines, where she excelled and received six Professional Flight Attendant Awards. She later excelled at the management level, working as a flight attendant recruiter before returning to flying internationally.
Throughout her life, Marcia has been dedicated to public service and volunteerism. She has been a leader at the state and national level, holding many elected positions throughout her career.
Marcia lived in Tetonia, Idaho, from 1995 to 2006. After her husband faced health issues, they relocated to Post Falls, Idaho to access better healthcare, where she resided from 2006 to 2020. During her time in northern Idaho, she served as the Publicity Chair for Cancer & Community Charities for ten years. Eventually, they returned to Teton Valley, appreciating both the advancements in medical care and the beauty of the community.
Marcia considers herself fortunate rather than lucky and feels a strong sense of responsibility to give back to her community through volunteer work. She is honored to serve on the Teton Valley Health Care Foundation Board, where she aims to positively showcase Teton Valley Health Care and represent the hospital within the community.
Marcia is married to Terry Saunders, a retired Continental Airlines pilot. They will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this September.
Outside of her commitments, Marcia enjoys reading, golfing, swimming, and hiking, embracing the natural beauty and recreational opportunities in her beloved Teton Valley.
