John Unland
Director
John Unland is a global marketing strategist, author, and retired business owner who brings decades of professional experience and deep personal commitment to his role on the Teton Valley Health Care (TVHC) Foundation Board. A longtime visitor to the Teton Valley since the mid-1980s and a full-time resident since 2015, John has cultivated strong ties to this community—both professionally and personally.
As founder of The Unland Company, he led major projects for clients including W.L. Gore & Associates (Gore-Tex®), DuPont, Lockheed Martin, NASA, Rohm and Haas, and Dow Chemical. Earlier in his career, John held roles at The White House, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The Nestlé Company, and the investment banking firm Butcher & Singer. He also taught Principles of Marketing at The Wharton School of Business.
A graduate of Colgate University, John also studied at The London School of Economics and holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
John now lives in Driggs, Idaho, with his wife, Linda, where they make their home between a small cabin and two yurts nestled in the Teton mountain region. He is active in the local community, particularly in nonprofit service. He has authored two books, with a third on the way, and enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and outdoor living. He is also the proud father of two grown sons: Logan, who lives in Manhattan, and Tyler, who lives out in Los Angeles.
His commitment to the TVHC Foundation is extremely personal. “This board plays a critical role in funding the needs of our incredible hospital staff, providers, and caregivers, and for that alone I’m happy to add whatever value I can,” he says. “Teton Valley Hospital has addressed important health issues for me—and, on one occasion, I would say it saved my life. I cannot overstate its importance to this community. Without it, we wouldn’t live here. In many ways, it is the anchor of our region as it is now—and as it grows into the future.”
