Orthopedic Team at Teton Valley Health Care Expands with Addition of Dr. Gregory Behm
Welcome Dr. Gregory Behm to the Teton Valley Health Care Orthopedic Team!
We’re thrilled to announce the newest addition to our orthopedic team: Dr. Gregory Behm, a highly skilled and compassionate orthopedic surgeon who will officially begin seeing patients on October 13th. Dr. Behm joins the TVHC Orthopedic team with Dr. Stefan Turkula, Dr. Christine McGurn, and Mike Haskell, PA. With more than 25 years of experience caring for patients in rural communities across the Mountain West, Dr. Behm brings not only advanced expertise but also a deep commitment to helping people move better, live pain-free, and return to the activities they love.
A Career Built on Passion and Experience
Dr. Behm’s path to medicine is as unique as it is inspiring. Before pursuing medicine, he worked as a chemical engineer and even toured as a professional drummer. His passion for problem-solving and his lifelong love of activity ultimately led him to orthopedics. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Baptist Memorial Hospital and the Campbell Clinic – University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN.
Over the last 26 years, Dr. Behm has practiced in rural hospitals—including the most remote hospital in the lower 48 states—giving him a deep appreciation for the importance of access to high-quality, close-to-home care.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. Behm specializes in sports medicine, total joint replacement, and arthroscopic procedures. About half of his practice focuses on sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder, and ankle, while another third is dedicated to total hip and total knee replacements. Together, with our existing team of surgeons and their specialties, we can care for your orthopedic and sports medicine needs, here at home.
Sports medicine has always been close to Dr. Behm’s heart. “The same techniques used to repair a quarterback’s rotator cuff are used for a rancher’s,” he explains. “Farmers, ranchers, hikers, skiers, and cyclists all need access to the same quality of care as professional athletes, and I love bringing that level of expertise to rural patients.”
He is also excited to bring the latest advances in joint replacement technology to Teton Valley and continues to maintain close professional relationships with leading orthopedic surgeons from the renowned Campbell Clinic—home of the world’s most widely read orthopedic textbook.
A Patient-Centered Approach
What truly sets Dr. Behm apart is his philosophy of care. He sees himself as an investigator, educator, surgeon, and coach—guiding patients every step of the way, from diagnosis to recovery. Whether he’s recommending non-surgical treatments, performing surgery, or encouraging patients through rehabilitation, his goal is always the same: to restore function, reduce pain, and help patients get back to the activities they love.
Dr. Behm also brings humor and warmth to his practice. Known for his lighthearted approach, he admits he has “an uncontrollable need to pick on people and loves to tease both patients and coworkers”—and expects a little teasing back in return! This approachable style helps patients feel comfortable and cared for as they work toward recovery.
Outside of the clinic and operating room, Dr. Behm is passionate about staying active. He’s a longtime skier, a former ski patroller with over 10 years of experience and is current alumni of the National Ski Patrol. Fitness is also a big part of his life, and he’s an avid Peloton enthusiast.
When not on the slopes or bike, Dr. Behm treasures time with his wife and looks forward to making Teton Valley their new home. “Living in the mountains, in a community where people are so active, is a real treat for us,” he shares.
