April marks a special celebration in the healthcare community
April marks a special celebration in the healthcare community as it is recognized as Occupational Therapy Month. Throughout this month, we honor and appreciate the invaluable contributions of occupational therapists who dedicate themselves to improving the lives of others.
What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) is a holistic healthcare profession focused on helping people of all ages participate in the activities (or occupations) they need or want to do in their everyday lives. These activities may include self-care tasks like getting dressed or cooking, work-related activities, leisure pursuits, and social interactions.
Occupational therapists work with individuals who may have physical, cognitive, developmental, or emotional challenges that interfere with their ability to engage in these activities. They assess each person’s abilities, limitations, and environment to develop personalized intervention plans aimed at improving independence, enhancing quality of life, and promoting overall well-being.
