TVH Holds 2nd Annual Recognizing Excellence Awards Ceremony

Teton Valley Health (TVH) is excited to announce the winners of their 2nd Annual Recognizing Excellence Awards. Each year TVH employees, patients and their families have the ability to nominate a Nursing Team Member,  Clinical Staff Member, Support Team Member, Medical Provider, and any Director, Supervisor, or other Leader at TVH for going above and beyond in providing compassionate and personalized care. Nominations are collected online as well as in writing at various drop-box locations throughout TVH facilities. . 

• The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® is given to a nurse at TVH;
• The TULIP Award is given to a Clinical Staff Member at TVH; 
• The BEE Award is given to any TVH staff member who supports patient care; 
• The HELPING HANDS Award, given to any medical provider at TVH; and 
• The SUMMIT Award is given to any Director, Supervisor, or other Leader at TVH.

As mentioned, winners are selected annually and receive a hand-made statue and certificate. A special ceremony was also held in honor of our Recognizing Excellence winners. In addition, our winners will have their picture and story displayed in the Hospital Hallway to share with everyone. 

This year’s Recognizing Excellence Awards Ceremony was held Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Following are our winners and their stories:

The DAISY Award

Rosa Cortez, LPN, has been recognized as this year’s DAISY Award recipient for her exceptional qualities as a nurse at TVH. Her colleagues and patients have praised her for her respectful and honest demeanor, intelligence, dedication to learning, and enthusiasm for helping others. Her personality is described as charismatic, and she is appreciated for her helpfulness, dedication, and positivity.

Rosa is also commended for her patient-centered approach, taking the time to explain their care and build relationships with them. Her advocacy for her patients and attention to detail have made her an outstanding nurse and a valuable team member. She is respected by her colleagues and loved by her patients, who appreciate her patience, kindness, and compassion.

Rosa’s commitment to excellence and her willingness to push herself to be better have helped many patients, and her colleagues feel lucky to have her as part of their team. Overall, Rosa’s dedication to her work and the care she provides make her a deserving recipient of this year’s DAISY Award. Congratulations! 

The TULIP Award

It is with great pleasure that we recognize Christine with The TULIP Award for her exceptional skill, unwavering commitment, and compassionate care for patients and their families is an example we can all follow. Christine works in admissions for the Specialty Clinic and ensures our patients are expertly taken care of as they check-in. Her work ethic has left an indelible mark on our patients, colleagues, and community. 

Christine has demonstrated remarkable proficiency in her job, consistently delivering exceptional results in challenging circumstances. Her dedication to her craft, coupled with her positive attitude and willingness to go above and beyond, has earned her the respect and admiration of those around her.

What truly sets Christine apart, however, is her extraordinary talent, remarkable skill, and deep compassion for our patients. Her commitment to the well-being of those in her care is unwavering, and her kindness and empathy have touched countless lives.

The BEE Award

Congratulations to the entire Dietitian Team who are being recognized with The BEE Award for their exceptional work in the cafeteria! The team has been commended for their friendliness and welcoming attitude, which has made staff feel at home and upgraded the overall experience for everyone who visits the cafeteria. One employee noted, “I feel like I am back in my grandma’s kitchen. It was a great place to be and I am so happy to feel that again.” This is high praise, indeed.

It is clear that the dietitian team has made a significant impact on the culture of the cafeteria, and their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. By creating an inviting and warm atmosphere, they have not only improved the dining experience but have also contributed to a more positive and cohesive workplace.

This award is a testament to the team’s commitment to excellence and their ability to make a positive impact on those around them. Well done to the dietitian team, and thank you for all that you do!

The HELPING HANDS Award

It is with great pleasure that we present The HELPING HANDS Award to Eric Baler, PA-C, in recognition of his exceptional contribution as a healthcare provider and a valuable team member at TVH. Throughout his tenure with us, Eric has consistently demonstrated his commitment to providing the highest quality of care to all patients under his care.

Eric is not only an outstanding healthcare provider but also a remarkable team player who always goes above and beyond to support his colleagues and patients. His willingness to lend a helping hand to other providers and their patients is truly inspiring, and his collaborative approach has helped to foster a positive and supportive working environment.

Eric’s dedication to patient care and teamwork is a testament to his professionalism and the values that he embodies. He is a role model for all of us, and we are proud to have him as part of our team. Congratulations on this well-deserved award!

The SUMMIT Award

It is with great pleasure that we present The SUMMIT Award to Darcie Weaver for her outstanding dedication and excellence in her role as the Director of EVS at Teton Valley Health. Darcie’s colleagues and team members have praised her as an excellent listener who takes concerns seriously and works collaboratively to find solutions and implement new processes. Her leadership skills are commendable as she motivates and inspires her team to maintain high standards in cleanliness, adherence to protocols, and customer service.

In particular, Darcie’s nomination for The SUMMIT Award highlights her endless dedication to keeping the hospital clean and her role in leading her team to be friendly and fantastic. Her commitment to excellence and her positive attitude have had a significant impact on her colleagues and the hospital’s patients. Darcie’s example of servant leadership is a testament to her exceptional work ethic, strong leadership skills, and her ability to inspire others to perform to the best of their abilities.
